Responsibility:   “Cook” – this role is responsible for the preparations of menus and offering high levels of hospitality to all we serve.

Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to prepare and execute menus through large quantities of food, on a daily basis. The major objective of this position is to prepare a flavorful and nutritional meal, by representing the redemption of Jesus Christ.
Essential Functions:
·         Food preparation

·         Ensure proper labeling and storage of foods and supplies weekly

·         Oversee volunteers and guests in the preparation of food in large quantities daily

·         Ensure quantity and quality of food production and service

·         Ensure sanitation of kitchen equipment daily

·         Follow ServSafe standards and company policies daily

·         To follow all procedures and safe work practices in order to maintain a clean and safe working environment

·         Prepare food by adhering to nutrition and presentation standards, and preparation procedures daily

·         Ensure food quality daily

·         Setting up service line

·         Correct and consistent portioning of servings daily

·         Ensure guests are being served with superior service daily

·         Preparing meals according to menu

·         Guarantee safe delivery of monetary donations daily

·         Completing daily check lists

·         Provide orientation, training, coaching, and addressing needs of both volunteers and guests daily

·         Ensure superior customer service to guest

·         Prepare “To Go” meals for van driver pick-up and for those who are working

·         Assist with catering prep and set-up

·         Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience
·         High School Diploma or GED equivalent required

·         1-2 years of experience in food service preferred but, not required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
·         Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to all

·         Knowledge of proper methods of storing food items

·         Ability to plan and organize food preparation and serving operations

·         Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions

·         Works as an effective team member

·         Be proficient in basic computer knowledge, spreadsheet, word

Lifting Requirements

☐ Sedentary work – Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
